The Design Museum
I went to the Design Museum the other day and was introduced to Mr. Paul Smith. No, not really him… but his life and his work. He is one creative fella.
Please excuse the quality of the first picture… it gets the point across.
These are a collection of his photographs. I think that the walls of his home must be covered in a similar fashion. There were some very interesting pieces. It’s hard to not be inspired when you’re surrounded by so many interesting pieces.
And I believe it’s a sign that you have made it in the world of design when you get to design Mini Coopers and skis and Evian bottles…
And I’d like one of these for Christmas… Thanks.
They showed some of his pieces throughout the years.
I had my favorites…
Then I wandered upstairs for another exhibit.
As the name implies this showcases design as it has developed through the last century.
And this section I thought was really interesting because it showed a stage of design and production that I hadn’t seen before, how things are actually made.
There was so much more that I didn’t photography. Those are just the things I liked the most.
After that I headed to The Design Museum gift shop and of course, it is filled with so much design goodness. I spotted a number of things I wish were in my flat and got some good ideas for Christmas this year.
Even the minis aren’t cheap.
and then a lovely walk home in the rain…
