Chimichanga – Mexican Food!
I’m pretty happy with the close proximity of Chimichangas at Belsize Park. It’s not the best mexican food I’ve had in London, but when I’m craving fajitas and some yummy cheese filled and fried jalapeños it’s a good choice. Some of the lovely meals I’ve had are below.
No, I didn’t eat them all at once.
JALAPEÑO BULLETS – Deep fried jalapeño peppers with cream cheese, served with chipotle chilli sauce
I don’t remember exactly what this was called, but I remember there being pulled pork and cole slaw in there. Honey ordered this one and wasn’t crazy about it… the bread was too much and the coleslaw didn’t belong on the sandwich. Perhaps that’s why I couldn’t find it on the menu anymore…
Tender marinated fire-grilled steak fajitas served on a sizzling skillet with guacamole, pico de gallo salsa, sour cream, cheese and warm flour tortillas.
FYI – those grilled peppers were absolutely delicious!
The tortillas… ehhh… needed to be cooked more and weren’t that fluffy and light.
At most places in London you have to order everything as a aside. This place is no different, if you want beans and rice with your fajitas you have to order them and pay extra. This is so not the case in Texas… beans and rice are standard and restauranteurs would be slapped if they didn’t include them with almost every Mexican dish. But, alas, we are not in Texas.
Nachos – Tortilla chips served with fresh salsa, guacamole and melted cheese
Chimichanga – A flour tortilla fried golden brown with cheese, sautéed onions and peppers, with your choice of filling. Garnished with sour cream, chives, guacamole and tortilla croutons
And the only dessert I’ve had here is this lovely HONEYCOMB SMASH CHEESECAKE – A smooth rich cheesecake blended and topped with crunchy honeycomb pieces coated in chocolate. And yea….. it was delicious. Weird for a Mexican food joint to serve, but ya know… whatever.
